Performing a Map Search

Performing a Map Search

On the Matrix home page, click on the Search tab and select the property type.

Once you are on the search page, input your search criteria (excluding a County, City or Zip) then click on the Map tab or the Map Search link.

Click and hold on the map as you move your mouse in order to pan the view and locate an area for searching. You can also zoom into or out of an area by using the controls on the map as displayed below. The listings will auto-populate and will be identified by a pin in the map.

Until you use the + plus sign to zoom into the map, you will see clusters indicating the approximate number of listings in that area.

Click on a section and it will enlarge showing the individual properties.

Use the drawing tools    to select a search region on the map by drawing boundaries around the desired areas. You can choose to draw a radius, rectangle, or a polygon or a free hand polygon. Examples of all four are shown below:

To see results, click the Results tab.

To remove a map shape, click the erase icon    in the toolbar.

NOTE: When using the map search, do not select a city in the basic search criteria page as this may conflict with the search regions you draw and could result in no listing matches.

Using Map Layers

Map layers give you additional insight into the properties highlighted on the map. You may see items such as Boundaries, including Flood Zones, Parcel Characteristics, Trends and Points of Interest.

Click on the Layers icon in the map toolbox.

Place a check in the box(es) to display a boundary on the map.

Some overlays require that you Zoom In; indicated by a red Zoom In at the top of the list and a red lettering. In the example below, to see either the Parcel or Flood Zone layers, zoom in on the map.

The map resets showing your selection.

Using Drawing Tools with a Layer

You can use the drawing tools with a layer.

From the Matrix search screen, click on Map Search.

Select the Layer you want to use.

Use the Zoom controls to position the map where you want to draw.

The map resets with just properties within the drawn area.

Click Results. The selected properties appear in the grid or the 350 Property view depending on your set defaults.
